As Jen and I complete more and more projects, we are finding that we have so many ideas for additional ways to accessorize and “finish” invitations. It’s always interesting to see how one invitation design can have such different looks simply based on the “extras” that we add. For this reason, we have decided to start this little series where we will show you some of our designs and how they can be put together differently and completely change the finished look.
Our first design is this simple letterpress invitation. The fonts and paper choice lend themselves to being more of a rustic style invitation but we found that because these lovelies were printed in silver ink on our letterpress, the design could do a number of different ways.
The original letterpress printing and design were very simple. At the last minute, we convinced the bride that adding the simple burlap string would help finish off the package and fit perfectly with her desired outcome. She loved it and added the accessory at the very end.
Our second version keeps everything the same, from the soft pink envelopes to the paper and ink. The only change we made was adding the blush colored lace belly band in place of the pink burlap string. To highlight the names, we added the pleat to the belly band instead of leaving it flat. This adds a little bit of interest and instead of a totally rustic look, the invitation has more of a romantic feel.
Our final version plays up the silver ink all the way. It mixes in both rustic and glam styles and Jen and I agree, this one is our favorite because it’s more unexpected. The paper, design and letterpress printing stays the same and this time we added metallic silver backers and envelopes instead of the pink. Unlike most of our backed invitations, we also backed the details card and we love this unique look. We finished off this version with a simple metallic silver string that will keep all the pieces together.
We’d love to know which option you like the best and if you like the idea for this series. We’ve got so many more that we can’t wait to show you!
