Our Book Page DIY series starts today with an easy one; a book page garland. These little garlands took me less than ten minutes and I think they make a cute addition to the fall mantle in my family room next door.
You will need:
- old book or paper
- hole punch or scissors
- needle and thread or sewing machine
- 10 to 20 minutes
If you are using an old book, start by tearing out several pages. I used two different books, one with white pages and the other with cream pages. You could also use construction paper, scrapbook paper, newspaper; anything you want.
Use a shape punch or cut out your shapes with scissors. I then used a scalloped circle hole punch that I already had. This would also be cute if you cut out your own shapes. Hearts for valentines day, leaves for fall, stars for Christmas; you are only limited by your own creativity.
With all your shapes cut out, use a sewing machine or hand sew your shapes together into a long string. You can use any color thread. I used white thread to keep my garland monochromatic but you can use any color you like. If you are using a sewing machine, slowly feed your shapes through leaving a 1/4″ to 1/2″ space between each one. Also make sure you leave some thread on each end so you can hang your garland.
Hang your garland!
