Hello friends. Long time, no talk. The silence around here was intentional while I figured out how to approach this subject. You see I have attempted to write this post several times over the past month but I was never able to find the right words because I didn’t have it all figured out I also wanted to make sure that when I was finally ready to talk, I also had some concrete things to share with you.
As you may remember, I didn’t set goals for RC in 2017 the way I have in previous years. I couldn’t set goals when I knew things would be changing more than they already had. I needed to figure out what the changes were going to be before I set goals so this year my theme has been not about goals but about change. Are you still with me?
If you are, you are going to see some changes around here. Raspberry Creative isn’t going anywhere but it’s going to look different. You see, I don’t love Raspberry Creative the way I used to. That was a very difficult thing to admit but when I finally did, things got easier. I began to see where things went wrong and I allowed myself the opportunity to decide whether to phase out or change directions so that I can love it again the way I used to. I really want to love it again but I am done with my business running me instead of me running it.
So here are a few of the changes that are going on around here.
The shop is no longer open for walk-ins. This isn’t really new but it’s official. While I am still meeting with clients in the studio, I am no longer accepting walk-ins. Our online sales have been continuing to increase and with the relaunch of our own self-hosted online shop, we can’t balance walk-ins with everything else. I will be available in the shop by appointment only. This will allow me and my staff a chance to prep for our in-person clients.
I’m headed back to school! My tuition is paid and I have completed my first couple of weeks. I can honestly say that I haven’t been this excited about my work in a very long time. I wont be talking about it a lot here but it is part of why I am making some changes.
The website and blog are changing. I did a redesign on the site in January but that was only the first step. Lately I have been reworking a lot of our content, getting rid of the junk and focusing on the good stuff. I cleared out all of our old categories and started from scratch. You are going to see more a shift here than other places for sure! I wiped out my editorial calendar and am completely starting from scratch. That is partly why I’ve been silent here. You can expect to see a bigger emphasis on the website and blog and less on our physical location. I am excited about this shift and anxious to see where things go from here.
I hope that with the silence I haven’t lost you altogether. I needed the break to reset my mind and my path for Raspberry Creative. While there are a lot of things changing, the biggest transition will be on the website. While it will be more gradual, I am very excited about this direction. I really hope that the plans I have for the blog better serve our customers and readers and I hope you hang in there while we find our new footing in this new direction.
