A few weeks ago B and I packed up the boys and the 5th wheel and headed to one of our favorite places, the Delaware Beaches. We don’t usually go in the middle of the summer when it’s so busy and feels so commercialized. We had a great time though and enjoyed the quieter side of the beach towns. We love to go to the beach but almost never actually go to the beach. For me, heading to the beach is about the open air, the smells, the salt in the air and the constant ocean breezes. It’s my happy place even if we aren’t actually sitting in the sand with the waves crashing at our feet.
B and I have really come to love Delaware and every time we go, we talk about buying a place and recent visit was no different. Since we aren’t leaving our jobs, selling our house and buying a beach house any time soon, I’m always looking for ways to bring that love of the beach into our home without it looking like a literal beach house. Our love of the beach has definitely influenced our home decor but more in the colors, light woods and mix of textures. For us, going to the beach also means boating. A few years we took may family’s boat with us and it changed our experience forever.
To bring the love of the ocean and boating together, I took an idea I saw in a Pottery Barn catalog and made it my own with this fun, nautical art display.
HERE’S WHAT I USED:
- Frames (I bought mine from Amazon as a 2-pack)
- Boat Cleats (Mine are from Amazon)
- Rope (from Amazon)
- Scissors, Staple Gun, Electrical Tape, drill (or screwdriver)
