Earlier this year Cindie contacted me about working with her to design baby shower invitations for her future daughter-in-law. She explained that the shower was being planned around the nursery design. The theme would be elephants in a navy blue and gray color palette to match the nursery. She also said the nursery would be more of a primitive style so she didn’t want the invitations to look too modern.
We gave her options including chevron, polka dots or pin stripes. She ultimately chose the stripes. I loved that because the pin stripes reminded me of a boy’s shirt which is where the inspiration came from. Chevron is so popular with baby shower invitations, I thought this was a fun change.
The final design also included a matching gift tag for guest to bring unwrapped gifts. You will see that in the photo below. We see a lot of these for baby showers because it gives the guests all a chance to see what gifts mom-to-be receives.
After the invitations were done, Cindie also asked us to design a few matching games that could be passed out during the shower. By that time she was tired of elephants though so she asked for something boyish and primitive that still went went with the invitations with having all the elephants. The final designs compliment the invitations without being identical and it gave Cindie a break from all the elephants too. The sign was also designed at this time to go with the games. I think that is my favorite part.
This is such a cute color palette for a baby shower for a boy. Accented with yellow or just white, the colors are classic and very boyish. I rounded up some of my favorite inspiration from around Pinterest to go along with this fun design. I just love #4. What do you think?
