Happy Friday! I hope you’ve had a great week and that it’s been both positive and productive. I’m happy to say that mine as been both. Now that I’ve made Fridays a fun day here on the blog, I’m hoping you’ll enjoy some topics that are a little more personal or entertaining. Today I though it would be fun to share with you something I’m equally as passionate about as my stationery design and that’s interior design! When I’m not working in the shop, I’m often playing interior designer at home from updates to our master bedroom to planning our next room makeover.
After several years of talking and planning, B and I finally started some long overdue updates to our kitchen recently. While I wont bore you with all the details, the process has been slower but steady and really kind of fun. While I love designing stationery and working with paper, I have also have a real love for home design and interiors. There are really many parallels in design whether it’s stationery, interiors or even fashion; color, texture, proportion…
While I never tire of color and pattern, as I’ve gotten older I’ve been wanting more of a neutral, calming look at home. My days are filled with colors, patterns, flowers, metallics and glitter so at home I like a more calming feel. While I haven’t quite figured out what to call our style at home, it’s definitely equal parts farmhouse, modern, industrial and coastal. While color, texture and pattern are part of my taste in home decor, it’s moved to just the accessories which are much easier to change when our tastes change. Where years ago our walls were covered in bold, rich colors, today they are light, bright, cool and calm.
Our kitchen is more of the same. B and I agreed on a basic black and white palette with accents of soft blue-greens and lighter woods. We continue to slowly make progress on the updates but it sure has been fun designing something new!
