Chelsey & Ricky were married this past weekend over the 4th of July weekend. This patriotic couple planned the coolest wedding weekend we have seen in a long time. A mix of formal and casual events, Jen and I both agreed this would have been the wedding to crash!
Chelsey was so much fun to work with. She knew from the first time we met what her vision for her wedding invitations were. Centered around her vision of a wedding logo, we worked with her to create this one-of-a-kind invitation suite. She loves America and it was important to her that the overall design have a patriotic feel with inspiration taken from the US Flag.
It all started with her logo. She wanted something that was inspired by the US Flag but that still worked for their formal wedding. I have to admit it was a lot of fun playing around with ideas. Once the logo was complete, coming up with a plan for her invitations was equally as enjoyable.
We ultimately came up with this gatefold style that is a bit more unique than the typical pocketfold. Everything was still nice and neatly organized but the look was a little different. Chelsey really wanted to do confetti inside her invitation but we suggested doing a few larger stars to go with her patriotic theme. The result was so much fun and so original! We just love this unique touch that didn’t make the mess that confetti would have.
For Chelsey’s day-of items we carried the same overall look of her invitations. She chose simple, flat panel programs, traditional tent escort cards and blank note cards to use for her thank you cards and future use after the wedding. This was a great way to make her thank you cards do double duty.
My favorite part of her day-of items are her itinerary cards. She mailed these out to her wedding party and since their wedding was a full weekend of events, it was a great way to make sure every member of her large wedding party knew what was supposed to happen when. With so much information, it was a challenge to come up with a design that was easily mailed but still large enough to fit all the information. I just love the accordion folded cards that we came up with!
This was such a fun project to work on from start to finish. Chelsey had very specific ideas about what she wanted but she also really let us get creative with those ideas in making it all come to life. I am really proud of all the work that we did for this project and I am so honored to have been this small part of such a major life event for Chelsey and Ricky!
