At the YWE wedding show with David Tutera back in August I had the pleasure of meeting Shelly who was there scoping out some last minute items for her daughter’s wedding. She was interested in menus and door hangers to coordinate with the other wedding stationery they already had. She shared with me a couple photos of the wedding invitations that were also black and gold. It helped me get a visual for the look she wanted and then I was able to point out a couple things that were close.
I took the time with her to look at some samples, show her things we could do to customize the designs and we ended up with several options. We agreed to talk after we returned to the shop and could get her pricing. After a few emails and phone calls we had a plan in place and I go to designing. Shelly shared a photo of her daughter’s wedding invitations which helped give us a good idea as to what direction to take the design customization.
The final designs were printed on ivory shimmer paper and the menu was backed with gold shimmer which adds just enough detail to the design to really make it pop. For the wedding door hangers, we kept the overall format of our existing design but changed out the fonts to the more formal / elegant ones she liked. Instead of our usual flower design at the bottom we added in the same gold scroll design flourish that we included on the menu.
The dinner menu for the reception is a simple 5 x 7 card in two layers. We custom matched the gold scroll design to the gold shimmer paper and the end result is perfect. The bride requested their names and wedding date at the top just to further mark the occasion and we were all happy with the end result.
Jen and I both want to thank Shelly for choosing us over so many other vendors that were at the wedding show that day. We had so much fun meeting so many new people, making new friends and hopefully beginning some great, new projects!
We love these items so much, you can find them in our Etsy shop!
