Your wedding invitations are an essential part of your big day. They set the tone for your celebration and provide your guests with important information about the event. However, one detail that many couples overlook is the importance of proper postage.

Selecting the right postage for your wedding invitations is crucial to ensure they arrive safely and on time. Improper postage can lead to delays, lost invitations, and even returned mail. To help you avoid these issues, we’ve put together a guide to selecting the right postage for your wedding invitations.

  1. Determine the weight of your invitation suite:

The weight of your invitation suite will determine the postage required. Be sure to include all the elements of your suite, including the invitation, response card, reception card, and any additional inserts. With all our invitation orders, we ship along a printed guide that walks you through the steps we recommend.  The most important tip is to take one, completed invitation to your local post off and have them weigh it for accurate postage calculation.

  2. Choose the right postage rate:

Once you’ve determined the weight of your invitation suite, you’ll need to choose the appropriate postage rate. The United States Postal Service (USPS) offers several options, including First-Class Mail, Priority Mail, and Priority Mail Express.  As a general rule, wedding invitations should be mailed via First-Class Mail.

  3. Consider special handling options:

Depending on the design of your invitation, you may want to consider special handling options. For example, if your invitation has a wax seal or a ribbon, you may want to opt for hand cancellation to avoid damage in the mail.  Here at Raspberry Creative, we recommend that ALL wedding invitations be taken to your local post office to request hand cancelling regardless of the style of what’s included in your wedding invitation.

  4. Double-check the address:

Before sending out your invitations, be sure to double-check the addresses. Incorrect or incomplete addresses can lead to delays or returned mail.

By following these tips, you can ensure that your wedding invitations arrive safely and on time. Proper postage is an essential detail that shouldn’t be overlooked. Remember, every detail matters when it comes to creating beautiful and memorable wedding stationery.
