Now Booking Fall 2024 Weddings and Beyond!
When planning your dream wedding, every detail matters, including your stationery. From save the dates to thank you cards, wedding stationery sets the tone for your special day. However, with so many options available, it can be challenging to decide where to save and where to splurge. In this blog post, we’ll explore various elements of wedding stationery and discuss whether it’s best to save or splurge.
Before I get into the list, let me start by saying that I believe that in all cases, it’s important to spend your money wisely on your wedding stationery, even where you are “splurging”. That means that regardless of your budget, I never encourage my clients to purchase or overspend on things that they don’t need or that doesn’t really matter or support their end goal. A better way to look at hte splurges below is to think of them as where to invest. Now, let’s get to my list.
Save the dates are a great addition to any wedding stationery package, but they aren’t a necessary piece for all couples. They serve a purpose and will be appreciated by your invited guests but if you are looking for ways to save on your wedding stationery, this is one way to do it.
If you still want to include save the dates here are a few tips to saving:
If you are going to splurge (invest) in one piece of your wedding stationery package, it’s your invitation. This is the one piece that if you want to upgrade to double thick paper, do letterpress and/or foil or add embellishments, this is where to do it.
You can still save on the other pieces of your invitation suite (RSVP, details cards, etc.) by including the upgrades only on the invitation card. Your invitation, however, is the single, most important piece of all your wedding stationery so this is where to go all out.
RSVPs are a sneaky way to save without looking like it. Here are some of my favorite tips.
Have your guests RSVP online. Instead of doing an RSVP with an envelope, set up a QR code that you can include for guests to RSVP online. A simple web address works too. Online RSVPs also save you on return postage and the cost of the RSVP envelope.
If going with a traditional RSVP card, opt for standard paper and printing. This card is more utilitarian so keep the design simple and skip the paper and printing upgrades for this piece.
They can be personalized in so many ways and can make even the simplest of wedding invitations look upscale and custom.
I could honestly argue equally either way for this one but we’re going with save, not skip here. I work with a lot of budget-conscious couples so this is one of those things that you can (and often should) include without going overboard and not sacrifice beauty.
All of our design collections include save the dates, wedding invitations and a complete list of day of pieces so that it’s easy to add the pieces that you need in a cohesive way without having to pay for additional design fees. This is a way to save.
For those that want a more upgraded look, we offer upgrades such as ribbons, wax seals and vellum sleeves.
When it comes to wedding stationery, the decision to save or splurge ultimately depends on your budget and priorities. By carefully considering where to allocate your funds, you can create beautiful and memorable stationery that sets the tone for your special day without breaking the bank. Whether you choose to save on certain elements or splurge on others, the most important thing is to create stationery that reflects your unique style and love story.
